About Roger Taliotis, P.Eng., CGD
A graduate of the University of Waterloo, Roger Taliotis is a registered professional mechanical engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario. He has more than ten years of experience in the HVAC/energy industry and over nine years’ experience in the geothermal sector.
Roger is passionate about renewable energy systems and design—in fact he installed geothermal and solar photovoltaic systems for his home. Taliotis Engineering was created to fill a need in the industry for quality, energy-efficient HVAC systems that can incorporate renewable technologies.
Roger’s specialities include designing geothermal systems, Thermal Energy Storage systems utilizing ice banks, refrigeration and piping for energy efficient ice rinks and facilities, and low-temperature District Energy Systems. He considers the multiple elements of a project and always strives to integrate systems so they work effectively together.
Roger is committed to ongoing professional enrichment through technical courses, industry conferences and continuing education at community colleges. He has taken courses on solar photovoltaics, wind turbines, and SolidWorks 3D CAD.

Awards and Accomplishments
Roger Taliotis:- designed a Geothermal District Energy System for the Town of Gibsons, British Columbia, which was the centrepiece of changes that resulted in Gibsons receiving the 2009 Energy and Climate Action Award for Community Planning and Development. The system is the first of its kind in North America, saves the town $350,000 annually, and will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from heating and hot water by 96%.
- designed a multi-functional community centre with an ice rink in Bouctouche, New Brunswick.
- is an accredited installer and Certified GeoExchange™ Designer (CGD) with the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA).
- has been a board member with the Ontario Geothermal Association since its founding in 2009.
- is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
Althea Taliotis
Althea Taliotis has over four years’ experience in the geothermal/HVAC industry. She prepares building load/energy models, energy analysis, and data analysis of utility bills.
